In 2012 her year, she received gold at the team events along with the floor exercises. For the balance beam, she was awarded a bronze. She became one of the few American to win the most medals at an Olympics. Gold medals she took home at the Olympics in 2016 was the second consecutive gold for the United States team. This made her, together with her fellow teammate Gabby one of the very first Americans to accomplish this accomplishment. Also, she received silvers in the individual all around event and floor exercises. After the 2 Olympics she had taken an absence from competitive gymnastics for 3 years. The gold medal she won for the American team also won the two World Championships. Gymnastics was her first sport since age of 2 and her favorite sport is floor exercise. Aly gives her time and money to Uniting Against Lung Cancer charity to honor her late grandmother. She hopes to become fashion-forward and increase the line of leotards and socks in the near future. She's writing a book entitled Fierce to be published in the coming months.
